JADE Craftsman Builders focuses on designing and building sustainable structures on Whidbey Island in Washington State. Owner Daniel Neumeyer studied architecture and sustainable design at U.C. Berkley, and now serves his local community through his design / build company.
I wanted to share with you one of their featured projects, the JADE tiny house.
Simple Elegance in Small Living
JADE describes their namesake tiny house as “simple elegance in small living.”
The team focused on three things in building this trailer-based residence:
- high quality materials
- low energy use
- healthy building
- resource efficiency
Matthew Swett of Taproot Architects designed the house while JADE brought it to life. It’s built on a standard 8’x18′ trailer and would work well for a number of different uses including as a:
- backyard office
- getaway cottage
- in-laws suite
- rental apartment
- artist’s studio
While most tiny houses are designed to sit on a trailer, the JADE tiny house can also rest on a permanent foundation.
Love that side entrance. It makes the whole space seem much larger as you walk in.
