I came across this story today and wanted to share it with you. A grandmother named Monica Smith decided one day to fix up the shed in her backyard.
Her kids or neighbors had no idea what she was doing.
Then they found out she was turning her backyard shed into a tiny cabin!
She wasn’t doing this for herself though. Monica’s youngest daughter had lost her home. And her daughter had five children to care for.
Monica was determined to at least give them a place of their own – even if it was just a converted shed in the back of her house.
Here’s the 8 foot by 10 foot shed from the front.

This is the downstairs area, but the shed also has a second floor.

Although the cabin is small, Monica installed a fully-functional kitchen.

With plenty of storage space.

Opposite the kitchen is the bedroom.

As you reach the top you’ll enter another bedroom.

It’s a small bedroom, but there’s still room for a closet and dresser.

Looks fabulous.

You might think that Monica had some outside help in building and decorating the apartment, but you’d be wrong. She did all the work, and sometimes her children and grandkids would stop by. Monica’s main house has only two bedrooms, so there’s not enough space there for everyone to live. With a little effort and a lot of heart though, Monica made sure her kids and grandkids had a place to sleep that was cozy and built with love.
