I came across this video from David’s Passage today about how to make your own alcohol camp stove.
It’s a simple, fun DIY project that would be great for Scout meetings or as a way to pass time indoors this winter if you live in the Midwest like I do.
David will show you step-by-step how to make your own alcohol stove from a $1 plastic water bottle you can get from a dollar store.
Note: Although David says that this project can be done for only $1, that’s assuming you have everything except the aluminum water bottle he bought for $1 at the dollar store.
If you need to get all the supplies from scratch, this project will probably cost around $10-$15.
You can buy the simple Coleman aluminum mess kit that David used in the video here.
Supplies David mentions in the video:
- Coleman aluminum mess kit
- HEET denatured alcohol or Klean-Strip denatured alcohol if you want to buy in bulk
- Aluminum water bottle (you can get this cheaper at a dollar store)
- hack saw
- permanent marker
- 1/16″ drill bit
- caliper (could use a ruler instead)
You can contact David on his Facebook page or on his website. He’s got some neat tips for frugal, outdoor living.
