This unique 2nd floor studio apartment looks out over the harbor of Grand Marais, Minnesota on the shores of Lake Superior.
It’s owned by world travelers Todd and Susan Miller who nicknamed their rental the ‘Lighthouse.’
Todd and Susan have sailed the world’s oceans together in their 35 foot sloop ‘Snow Day.’ They bought the studio in 2003 after having passed through Grand Marais their whole lives.
With beams handcrafted by local timberframe artisans, the ‘Lighthouse’ received praise from a notable architect guest for its creative use of geometry and wood beam construction.
But don’t let the rustic charm fool you, it’s got all the modern amenities you could want and more. Take the quick tour below.
The houses next to the ‘Lighthouse’ have their own nicknames, including the ‘North Shore Fisherman’s Cabin’, the ‘Writer’s Cabin,’ and the owner’s own residence, the ‘Boathouse.’
One warning though, you’ll need to be a non-smoker without pets to stay here.
